Induction Motor Rewinding & Repair

An industrial electric motor that fails without warning takes a production line with it. NEXORA operates a dedicated motor workshop that rewinds, repairs and tests induction motors of all frame sizes, restoring them to reliable service rather than forcing an unplanned replacement.

Every motor received is stripped, inspected and electrically tested before any work begins, so the root cause is identified — not just the symptom. Winding data is recorded before the old coils are removed, new windings are produced to the original or an improved specification, and the finished motor is tested and documented before it is released.

Motor Rewinding

Rewinding is carried out using correctly rated enamelled copper wire, matched slot insulation and class-appropriate varnish. Coils are formed, inserted, connected and lashed by experienced winders, then vacuum or dip impregnated and cured to give the winding mechanical strength and resistance to moisture, vibration and thermal cycling.

Diagnosis and Electrical Testing

Motors are tested for insulation resistance, winding continuity and balance, polarisation index and earth faults. Mechanical condition is assessed at the same time — bearing housings, shaft journals, fan and cooling paths, and terminal box integrity — because a large share of winding failures begin as mechanical or supply-side problems.

What We Deliver

  • Rewinding of three-phase and single-phase induction motors
  • Squirrel cage and slip ring motor repair

  • Motor rewinding to original or improved winding specification
  • Shaft repair, sleeving and re-machining in-house
  • Bearing housing repair and end-shield re-machining
  • Terminal box and cable gland replacement
  • Motor overhaul combined with control panel and drive checks

Our Process

  1. Receipt and inspection

The motor is logged, photographed and visually inspected; nameplate and winding data are recorded before disassembly.

  2. Electrical and mechanical testing

Insulation resistance, winding balance and earth continuity are measured, and the mechanical condition of bearings and shaft is assessed.

  3. Stripping and coil manufacture

Old windings are removed, the core is cleaned and checked, and new coils are wound to the recorded specification.

  4. Winding, impregnation and curing

Coils are inserted, connected and lashed, then impregnated and oven cured for mechanical and thermal strength.

  5. Assembly and final testing

The motor is reassembled with new bearings, run tested on no load, and released with documented test results.

Frequently Asked Questions

Turnaround depends on frame size, winding complexity and material availability. After inspection and testing we confirm a scope and a realistic completion date in writing before work starts.

Yes. Every motor is released with recorded insulation resistance, winding balance and no-load run test results, together with the winding data used.

Yes. Site inspection and electrical testing often identify supply, alignment or load problems that would cause a repaired motor to fail again.
